Renewable Energy
Rubber-metal products, such as generator bearings and gearbox bearings, play a central role in wind turbines and alternative energy generation units in damping vibrations, shocks and structure-borne noise. They are used to elastically absorb highly dynamic forces from rotating components such as generators, gearboxes or auxiliary units and to transfer them in a controlled manner to the supporting structure. This significantly reduces the transmission of vibrations to the tower, foundation and adjacent components, thereby lowering both mechanical stress and noise emissions. At the same time, these mounts ensure precise positioning of the units and compensate for misalignment, thermal expansion and varying loads caused by wind gusts, load cycling or dynamic processes. In alternative energy plants such as combined heat and power plants, hydroelectric plants or biomass plants, rubber-metal bearings fulfill a similar function: They increase operational safety, protect sensitive components from fatigue damage and contribute significantly to extending service life as well as reducing maintenance and repair costs.
