Element for Civil Engineering
Reinforced elastomeric bearings, also known as rubber-metal structural bearings, are used in civil engineering to safely support loads and to specifically accommodate movements. They consist of elastic rubber layers that are firmly bonded to steel plates, thereby combining high load-bearing capacity with defined elasticity. These bearings reliably transfer large vertical loads to the substructure while accommodating horizontal displacements, rotations and temperature- and load-induced movements of the structure. At the same time, they dampen vibrations and reduce constraint stresses, thereby sustainably increasing the durability and safety of bridges, columns and other civil engineering structures.
